Mobile solutions provider Comviva has partnered with Somalian telcom service provider NationLink to launch its ‘e-maal’ mWallet service. Comviva is providing its mobiquity mobile financial platform to NationLink to enable an integrated financial payment service.

The service will be available across Somalia and will cater to segments of the population with little or no access to banks. mWallet will enable subscribers to conduct a variety of transactions using their mobile, including domestic and international transfers, utility bill payment, and mobile ticketing.

Abdirizak Ido, president, NationLink Telecom says: “Today, people are looking for greater convenience from their mobile phone. By deploying Comviva’s mobile money solution, we are able to provide easy-to-use mobile wallet and remittance services. This step marks a significant milestone, as this is the first mobile money service in the region, which we are confident will transform the lives of people in Somalia.”
