Barcelona is the venue for Telecom 2006 the biennial telecommunications conference hosted by ESOMAR, the global market research industry association. The event takes place from 29 November to 1 December, and brings together international marketing and research professionals from telecom, consumer electronics, media and entertainment sectors to share research learning and experience on what convergence means for business and how the convergence revolution is affecting consumers lives.
Convergence specialists presenting include Carlos Lpez-Blanco, former Secretary of State for Telecommunications in the Spanish Government, and Anne Kirah, Senior Design Anthropologist at Microsoft Corporation in France.
Throughout the three days, the programme combines a mix of in-depth presentations with interactive debates with industry leaders and research experts. Discussions centres on whether organisations can influence consumer engagement, the impact of converging technology on family life, and on whether researchers are equipped to fully explore the consumer experience. Guest speaker Jan Willem den Bos, a lawyer at DentonWildeSapte adds to the convergence discussion, with a presentation on possible boundaries to convergence.
