Mobile applications firm Cortado has unveiled a new version of its Cortado Corporate Server enterprise solution. The new version 4.0 offers further essential PC-type functions for BlackBerry users, in addition to the mobile printing, faxing and file management services offered in the current version. The new version will be available in the second quarter of 2009.
For version 4.0, Cortado developed a completely new print technology which is currently pending patent approval. In addition to a variety of other functions, the new technology enables simple and quick printing virtually anywhere in any WLAN network.
Other new functions include the ability to make database queries and create PDFs directly from BlackBerry devices.
Cortado says the solution reduces IT administration costs, as mobile devices are integrated as assets into the corporate network like classic desktop PCs. Furthermore, it notes, a Smartphone infrastructure is considerably more cost effective in acquisition and maintenance than one based on PCs and laptops.
