COS: Chinas Government-approved Answer to iOS and Android

Apple might be about to crack the worlds biggest market, having signed a deal with China Mobile which will finally see the operator selling iPhones, but the Chinese government looks ready to resist iOSs growth, if the announcement of COS is anything to go by.
COS (China Operating System) was unveiled by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Liantong Network Communications Technology, and is government-backed.
The initial announcement doesnt offer much reason to choose the OS over its competitors, and it has already been criticised for borrowing heavily from Android and Linux. 
Still, China is a huge growth market for mobile, and it will be fascinating to see how the OS progresses in the coming months. Well be sure to keep you updated.
