As our regular readers will know, we like to stay focused here on Mobile Marketing. Many is the story that gets spiked because there’s just no mobile angle to it. But occasionally, we have to give in to Herculean efforts of strength and endurance, particularly when they are carried out by the husband of our events supremo, Rebecca McRobb.
So take a bow then Jamie McRobb, fresh from completing a bike ride from London to Paris to raise much-needed funds and awareness for the Royal Marsden cancer research charity. In total, Jamie spent 17 hours and 10 minutes of hard cycling in the saddle, burned around 24,000 calories, made approximately 82,000 pedal revolutions and consumed more oat cereal bars than is healthy for any individual.
His journey took him from Crystal Palace, through the picturesque Kent countryside, then after crossing the Channel, through the small villages and medieval market towns of Northern France, on through the battlefields of the Somme and Agincourt, until the pack of cyclists re-grouped and arrived en masse, bringing Paris to a standstill as they circled the Arc de Triomphe and arrived at the Eiffel tower on their victory parade.
In total, the cyclists involved in the ride raised over £168,000 for the Royal Marsden and other charities. Jamie’s contribution is currently running at £2,435, and while he wants to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported him, we would like to ask our 30,000+ unique monthly visitors to do their bit by logging on to Jamie’s donation page and swelling the coffers even more. If every one of our readers coughs up a couple of quid, it will make a massive difference to Jamie’s fundraising, and to the fight against cancer and other illnesses.
