Daily Telegraph Australia Launches NFC News Campaign

The Daily Telegraph in Australia has launched an NFC campaign on buses in Sydney to encourage travellers to keep up with the latest news during their commute.

Over the eight-week campaign, scanners will be sent to differing content on the papers mobile site, relevant to the time of day. People without an NFC smartphone can scan a QR code on the ads to access the site. NFC handset penetration is around 4m in Australia – nearly 20 per cent of the population.

The campaign is similar to one run by Metro last month in the UK, which used NFC and QR codes at bus stops to drive commuters to its mobile site.

According to Australias Campaign Brief, the concept was developed by mobile solutions company Mnet and UK-based media agency UM, with the NFC tech provided by Tapit.
