deCarta Brings Maps and Local Search to Opera Users

Opera Software has announced a strategic partnership with deCarta to bring maps, local search and travel routes to the Opera browser family. Opera users will be able to access location services directly, using deCartas technology, adding new functionality and context to the browsing experience.
Location-enabled services have shown dramatic growth in the past 12 months. As GPS is integrated into more handsets, many mobile services use the location to provide valuable context for the user experience. Under this agreement, Opera can refer its users to access maps, local search and travel routes quickly, localized for their region.
Location is becoming more and more important for a full web experience, says Christen Krogh, Chief Development Officer at Opera Software. With this partnership, Opera continues to expand its innovative offerings to bring our users a more convenient browsing experience.
