Deloitte, one of the world’s largest consultancy firms, has created a Salesforce app, Pocketsales, for iOS users to manage their accounts both on and offline.
The free app has been created by Deloitte Digital, the mobile-first innovation arm of Deloitte launched in May 2012 to consult and create tech products for their clients. This is the first app that has been designed by the company for real-world use, as opposed to simply presenting its internal product information.
The free version of the app allows users to access account and opportunity information. Paid-for options will enables users to unlock more data and customise the user interface. Deloitte created the app as part of Saleforce’s Mobile Accelerator Program, which opened in April 2013 to help the enterprise cloud computing platform accelerate the rate at which tools could be created. Deloitte has mobile design and development studios in London, Australia and the US.
“Mobile is one of the first things we talk about with our cusomers now and this app really shows what we can do in this space both on the Salesforce platform as well as the iOS platform,” said Phil Ludlow, a director in Deloitte and Salesforce practice lead in the UK. “Our clients ask for an offline capability simply because people want access to data wherever they are – be that on a plane or in a cellar – and right now 3G and even 4G coverage isnt good enough in this country to offer that instant access.”
