Intrinsyc Software International has signed a software licence agreement with an unnamed leading mobile phone and consumer device manufacturer to deliver turn-by-turn Destinator navigation software for use on a Windows Mobile consumer Smartphone. The GPS-enabled handset is currently shipping in Brazil, with additional phones soon to be released in additional Latin American markets.
The software delivers turn-by-turn navigation, with safety features for personal navigation devices (PNDs), personal digital assistants (PDAs) and Smartphones, while also providing cellular, Bluetooth, wi-fi and PC connectivity. Intrinsyc says that Destinator is an ideal software solution for in-vehicle and pedestrian-oriented navigation and content browsing.
This customer views navigation as a major driver for sales of converged handheld devices around the globe, says Intrinsyc CEO Tracy Rees. Destinator allows device makers to increase revenues and market share by delivering easy-to-use, feature-rich navigation-enabled devices.
