DIDMO and GetJar Partner for Salvation Army App

GetJar and DIDMO, creators of the Magmito mobile app creation solution, have joined forces for the creation and distribution of the free Daily Cup mobile app for The Salvation Army, which aims to inform, educate, and engage a global mobile audience about the issues of social justice for teens and young adults, and encourage donations of both time and money from the younger, mobile demographic.

“The Salvation Army is committed to being a voice for the world’s poor and oppressed, for human injustice, and our latest effort to spread this important message is aimed at today’s mobile generation,” says C. Mark Brown, Major, community relations and development secretary, The Salvation Army USA Southern Territory. “Mobile is international, has mass viral appeal, and with Magmito, can be accessed by virtually any phone on the market, making it the ideal platform through which to attract young people, whether it’s through volunteering their time at a local Salvation Army or making an instant donation of just $10 via their mobile device. With GetJar as the exclusive app store distributor, we hope to reach millions across over 200 countries for all major platforms this holiday season.”

The Daily Cup app features a blog feed, regularly updated with news not commonly found in most other media about donations at work, globally, via The Salvation Army. In addition, the app highlights important information on social justice including sobering statistics and content on human trafficking, hunger, homelessness, disaster, and HIV/AIDS.

Participation among those who download is encouraged via a feedback form for volunteer inquiries, while donation options including a ‘Donate $10 now’ button. Created by DIDMO using its cross-platform Magmito mobile app creation software, the app will be exclusively distributed via GetJar through premium listings and promotions on its website, which has to date received over 1bn downloads in more than 200 countries.

“The Internet and now, social media have given rise to a culture of content immediacy, where adding a mobile app to the mix provides a constant, 24/7 reminder on a device young adults never leave home without,” says Angelo Biasi, VP business development at DIDMO. “We hope that during this season of giving, we can mobilize a new global audience of wireless users to learn, get informed and participate with The Salvation Army in making a difference.”
