Disney Launches Tech Accelerator Program

Disney has launched its own technology accelerator program, in a partnership with Techstars.
Disney Accelerator is seeking 10 early seed-stage companies with innovative consumer media and entertainment ideas , each of which will receive $120,000 in investment capital and mentor support from Disney execs. At the end of the three month program, there will be a demo day where startups will present themselves to entertainment investors. 
Disney will not own any intellectual property developed in the program, but it does seem that the startups will be able to leverage the media giants copyrighted characters and stories – and its difficult to see Disney not having its fingers crossed for the program to develop its latest set of digital properties – which already include the likes of successful app Wheres My Water?.
