Distil Acquires ScrapeSentry to Create Largest Firm Dedicated to Tackling Ad Fraud

DistilBot detection firm Distil Networks has acquired security services provider ScrapeSentry for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition is intended to form what Distil claims is the largest firm dedicated to tackling ad fraud and automated attacks on eCommerce and publisher sites. ScrapeSentry’s team of security analysts will provide real-time threat monitoring, analysis, and response to fraudulent activity, building on Distils existing automated offering.

“Distil’s technology is built on machine learning and catches 99.9 per cent of the bad guys,” said Rami Essaid, co-founder and CEO of Distil Networks. “By adding ScrapeSentry’s experts to our team, and a human element to our solution, we are getting closer to closing that point one percent gap. With ScrapeSentry’s strong security pedigree and background in managed services, the team’s hands-on, granular approach will provide our customers with dedicated SOC resources along with even faster response times.”

“Together with Distil we will have a platform that we can use to provide protection for a broader audience and all customers will benefit from the unmatched strength of the joint development and research teams,” said ScrapeSentry CEO Martin Zetterlund. “ScrapeSentry’s experience in managed security services is a natural extension for Distil and we are thrilled to join the company’s team and mission to make the web more secure.”
