The ad, created by integrated brand agency Digitas and ad agency Leo Burnett, directs the audience to text “DREAM” to a shortcode before putting their phone to sleep for the duration of the film.

When the phone is turned back on, users will find a text prompt asking them to opt-in via Facebook. They are then shown a personalised 15-second video clip, based on their Facebook activity and photos, showing what their phone has been dreaming about while it was off.

“Many have created on-screen cinema spots before, but no one has tied it to a phone experience,” said Kevin Drew Davis, EVP, Executive Creative Director, Digitas. “We’ve taken cinema from the silver screen to your mobile phone, all while activating a social community that can spread the word outside the theater.”

The ad, which will be shown across nearly 19,000 screens in 1,500 NCM-affiliated cinemas, can watched below.
