EasyJet Adds Passport Scanning to iOS and Android Apps

easyjet comboBudget airline EasyJet is introducing passport scanning to its iOS and Android apps, with the aim of saving customers time during online check-in.

The airline worked with payment and ID specialists Jumio on the new feature to ensure all customer passports would be recorded securely, safely and easily. With the system integrated into EasyJets mobile boarding passes, travelers are now able to check-in using their smartphone up to two hours before their flight in 110 airports across Europe.

“Our new mobile passport scanning function will save time for the millions of customers who use the app to input their travel documentation details,” said James Millett, head of digital at EasyJet. “Its another example of innovating to make travel as easy as it is affordable with EasyJet.”

The new functionality for the app represents part of EasyJets commitment to innovation, having launched a partnership with Flightradar24 earlier this year to track its flights on the move, and trialled beacon technology to help customers navigate through airports.
