eBay Sees 6.6m New Mobile Buyers In Q2 of 2014

eBayeBay has released its earnings statement for Q2 of 2014, revealing that it gained 6.6m mobile buyers in the period, contributing to a 68 per cent growth in total mobile volume in the second quarter of 2014.

In the same period, its mobile app was downloaded 20m times, taking total downloads to 260m since its launch in 2008. According to the companys figures, an item is bought using the eBay app every second, and so far over 620m listings have been created via eBay mobile across the globe, with 8.2m new listings added using mobile every week.

40 per cent of eBay transactions involve mobile at some point in the transaction, either from the buyer or seller side. eBay hopes to develop both its mobile web and app solutions, believing both have an important role to play in mCommerce, with mobile web critical for smaller businesses, new customer acquisition and cross border trade, and apps crucial to loyalty and stickiness.
