eBay has updated its iOS apps, to version 3.0 on iPhone and 2.3 on iPad.
The key feature in the update is a unified Shopping Cart, previously only available on Android, which enables users to buy items from multiple sellers with a single payment. It also enables users to move between mobile and desktop to continue their purchases.
The update also brings an improved user interface, with the iPad getting a customisable home screen, and the introduction of multiple search views, offering table, grid and tile views.
“The commerce revolution is underway and mobile is leading the charge. We want to make moments of inspiration instantly shop-able, so we’re really excited by the updates to our apps for iPhone and iPad,” said Olivier Ropars, eBay Europe senior director of mCommerce. “For those brief shopping moments on the go, the Shopping Cart feature makes a big difference, allowing users to buy items from multiple sellers with a single payment. These changes, along with improvements to the overall user experience, underline our commitment to our mobile platform which already enables one purchase a second in the UK alone.”
According to eBay, its last significant mobile update, in January, which introduced crossplatform listings, helped increase first-time listings on the site by 67 per cent.
