EE, the UK’s first 4G operator, is now the best performing network in London, according to research from RootMetrics.
The company has overtaken the Three network to take the top spot, while O2 takes third place and Vodafone drops from joint second to last place. London’s top network speeds are now ahead of New York, having been behind eight months ago, thanks to the launch of 4G services, the report said. EE is available in more than 80 per cent of the London Larger Urban Zone, which covers the entire city and its commuter belt. This drops to around 45 per cent in the areas outside of the urban core.
“Our testers conducted more than 83,211 tests to deliver a highly accurate picture of mobile network performance in the area,” explains RootMetrics CEO and President Bill Moore. “While all operators have broadly upped their game in the last eight months, some have achieved less than others, leading to a major reordering of the rankings. Our tests and online reports allow people to see just how fast things can change and then decide which operator is best for them, where they live.”
