EQO Announces Blackberry Support

EQO Communications, which provides mobile Internet phone services, has announced support for its EQO Mobile application on BlackBerry Pearl, Curve, and other popular RIM handset models. The new RIM support is in addition to support for handsets from major manufacturers, including Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and Samsung.
EQO claims its EQO Mobile application offers savings of up to 95% on international calls. Using a proprietary mobile soft-switch platform and a presence-enabled Voice-over-IP (VoIP) signalling network, EQO Mobile also offers savings on Instant Messaging and texting and provides free calls and texts with other EQO users in 28 countries.
EQO is remarkably simple to use, the company says, with no calling cards, complicated dialling or call-back scenarios. Instead, EQO is powered by a small software application that makes calling as easy as using as a standard phone address book. EQO is free to download and installs itself automatically on millions of mobile handsets available worldwide.
There are more than 7 million BlackBerry users around the world who can now enjoy the many benefits of EQO Mobile,” says EQO CEO Bill Tam. Blackberry users are typically avid communicators, and by using EQO, they will save a lot of money on international calls to landline and mobile phone numbers. Add to that the ability to access your IM on MSN, AIM, ICQ, Yahoo, GoogleTalk and Jabber in the same application, and you have a very appealing option for people using BlackBerrys.”
