10 weeks after announcing the global expansion of its mobile application, EQO has revealed that its user base has more than tripled, and that it is now adding more than 10,000 new users daily. With users in 220 countries, EQO is among the fastest growing mobile VoIP applications, combining the benefits of low cost calling, text messaging and multi-network instant messaging (IM) for everyday handsets. EQO works on hundreds of different models of mobile phones from leading manufacturers, including Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, LG, Blackberry and HTC.
Originally available in 30 countries, EQO recently expanded globally to service some of the fastest-emerging mobile markets, including China, India and Russia. EQO automatically creates a phonebook that links all of a users contacts and IM networks into a single application. Real-time presence information then enables the user to see when these contacts are available across different networks, including their phone and IM networks.
It has been extremely encouraging to see a growing number of mobile phone users, particularly in markets like Europe and Asia, leveraging EQO as a natural extension and alternative to the PC for VoIP calls, sending instant messages and social networking, says EQO CEO, Bill Tam. In particular, weve struck a chord with the youth market, as three quarters of our audience ranges from 15 to 35 years of age.
EQOs solution simultaneously capitalises on the rapid growth of mobile social networking and the immediate opportunity in mobile international calling. According to Informa Research, mobile social networking revenues could reach $52 billion (26 billion) by 2012. Insight Research, also reports that the worldwide international calling market reached $300 billion in 2006, with International VoIP revenues forecasted to reach $87 billion this year.
