Business SMS service provider Esendex has warned companies off using mobile internet and apps, saying that SMS is simpler, wider-reaching, and cheaper.
Esendex, which supplies SMS services to the likes of Boots and Virgin Media, has issued this statement at the start of the financial year, in a bid to remind brands of the virtues of SMS as they finalise marketing budgets for the coming year.
Geoff Love, marketing director at Esendex, says: “Businesses should carefully assess their marketing operations, before choosing high-priced technologies that may not be suitable for their requirements. While the likes of smartphones and apps are certainly attractive, were urging marketers not to lose sight of more established communication channels like SMS. We believe SMS offers the immediate, reliable delivery of key messages over and above complicated, cumbersome and costly alternatives.”
