Everything Everywhere Makes M2M Move

Everything Everywhere, the parent company of Orange and T-Mobile in the UK, has launched an M2M (machine-to-machine) Management Platform, as a first step towards its goal of becoming partner of choice in the M2M space. The M2M Management Platform – a propriety M2M platform developed in partnership with Transatel – has been designed to allow business customers to securely manage their accounts and connections wherever they are.

Everything Everywhere’s ambition to lead in telemetry is also supported by the announcement of a specialist M2M partner, Redtail Telematics, which will expand its ability to provide connectivity solutions for customers in a number of new service areas.

“The launch of the M2M Management Platform is a key step in our ambition to become the number one partner of choice for M2M services,” says Marc Overton, vice president, wholesale and M2M at Everything Everywhere. “Companies of all sizes are asking for solutions that are easy to deploy, with a self-service platform that puts the control back into their hands. We are expanding into new markets and innovative areas of service that will help companies to transform their business through mobility.”

The Everything Everywhere M2M Management Platform provides a self-service portal for customers to quickly and securely access and manage all their account information, with complete control over their SIM accounts. The self-service web portal includes connection profiles, tariffs; call detail records; and SIM ordering facilities.

This is the first phase of the M2M Management Platform launch. Next will be the release of an API to allow customers to integrate M2M operations into existing CRM systems and other business applications.

Accompanying the API release, Everything Everywhere will also encourage innovation and the incubation of new M2M solutions, by supporting the developer community. They will be provided with free SIM cards loaded with credit for testing, and given access to Everything Everywhere labs in which to work on their projects.

The partnership between Everything Everywhere and M2M technology provider Redtail Telematics is a global one. Redtail’s sister company, the Plextek Group, has delivered over 5m telematics devices into the automotive aftermarket. Through the partnership, the GPS tracking in devices, which include applications such as stolen vehicle recovery, fleet management and smart insurance, will communicate via SIM cards from Everything Everywhere.
Everything Everywhere is already active in smart metering and vehicle and fleet management, and is working to expand into other areas such as global logistics; connected devices for the home and workplace; wellbeing solutions; and international M2M offerings. As part of the company’s ongoing partnership strategy, the company says it is seeking expert partners around the world to enable the offering of unique and innovative solutions in new markets.
