Extreme Drift Allstars Launches for the Samsung Gear VR

Gear VR Extreme DriftVirtual Reality Entertainment, in partnership with Extreme, has launched Extreme Drift Allstars – Part One for the Samsung Gear VR. It’s a Virtual Reality experience that puts the user in the driving seat at the Extreme Drift Allstars, Grand Prix. The game, the first in a three-part series, launches in the Milk VR store tomorrow in the US and Canada, with more territories coming soon.

“We’re incredibly excited about the first VR release from Extreme and Virtual Reality Entertainment,” said Extreme CEO, Alistair Gosling. “It’s amazing to be able to step into the shoes of professional drivers like James Deane and Dennis Haggblom and we’re sure fans of motorsports across the world will get a real buzz out of the experience. Watch this space for more releases coming soon.”

Software, of course, is key to the launch of any new piece of hardware and this racing game is one of a growing number of titles for Gear VR users in the US, many based around movies. Others include The Hunger Games VR Experience; The Martian VR Experience; Gone, an interactive VR thriller; and Lands End, a VT adventure set against spectacular landscapes.

Powered by Oculus Rift technology, the Samsung Gear VR headset sells for $99 in the US. For more on VR, click here. You can see a trailer for the game here.
