Specs brand Silhouette has launched an app that lets users virtually try on glasses models through the wonders of augmented reality (AR).
The free Silhouette iMirror app for iOS devices lets users choose models from the companys range of rimless spectacles, and superimpose them over the live image of their face from the devices built-in camera.
The user can move, turn and rotate to see in the mirror exactly how he or she would look if he or she were wearing the specs, says the company. Users can then take a screenshot and share the image with friends, for that all important second opinion.
“With Silhouette iMirror, Silhouette has once again shown the brands dedication to innovation,” says executive board member and co-proprietor Klaus Schmied. “We have been working in the field of augmented reality for a few years in our R&D department – and doing so as the first eyewear brand in the world. This technological innovation is made possible via dynamically loaded 3D eyewear models, which are saved in the app and adapted to movements in the image using face-tracking technology.”
To download the app, go to the Apple App Store.
