Facebook Adds Food Delivery and Ticket Ordering to Pages

Facebook PagesFacebook has expanded Pages – its free offering for businesses wanting a presence on the social network – with more ways to turn visits into actual business.

Users can order food or tickets, request appointments and get quotes directly from a Page.

The latter two are handled via Messenger, but to power the order options Facebook has partnered with food delivery services Delivery.com and Slice, and ticket providers Fandango, Eventbrite and Ticketmaster. As long as businesses are already using these platforms, they will be able to tie it to their Page on Facebook.

Alongside these additions, Facebook is launching a Recommendations feature. Users looking for suggestions of places to visit can choose to turn this feature on when they write a post. If they do, the relevant Pages for any recommendations posted in response by friends will be automatically gathered together and mapped out for the user to pick from.

These features are all rolling out in the US starting today. Facebook promises this is the first step, and over the coming months we’ll be launching even more new features that will make it easier to get things done, make confident decisions and communicate directly with businesses on your time and terms.

Finally, Facebook has revamped its Events dashboard with a focus on discovery – in line with the standalone Events app launched last week. Users can see the latest events activity from friends and browse event recommendations based on what’s popular with friends or other events theyve shown an interest in.
