Just over a year after first launching Instant Games on Messenger in 30 countries around the world, Facebook is adding the ability for gamers to livestream their playthroughs and video chat with friends in-game.
With livestreaming, which has begun rolling out, gamers are able to stream their gaming exploits via Facebook Live. While playing a game, they can tap the camera icon in the upper right corner of the game, and then choose the audience they want to broadcast to and add a description about the video. Once a broadcast has ended, it is published to the user’s Page or profile.
Facebook will begin testing video chatting soon. The feature will enable people to play games while video chatting with each other, and be able to use filters and capture pictures as they would within a normal video chat. The first game that will implement the feature, when it is introduced early next year, is Words With Friends from Zynga.
On top of the new features, Facebook is also adding new games in the coming weeks and months. These games include the iconic Tetris and, the arguably as iconic, Angry Birds. Joining the two popular titles is Sonic Jump, Disney Tsum Tsum, and Puzzle & Dragons.
