Facebook Dominates Second Screen Social Activity

Facebook is the undisputed king of second screening activity, according to research from Trendrr, which found that the amount of TV-related social activity taking place on Facebook is around five times as much as all other social networks combined.

Based on analysis of social activity during the week 13-19 May, the research also found that Facebook had a particular lead when it came to Hispanic programming, with the finale of Spanish language beauty contest Nuestra Belleza Latina attracting 12 times more activity on Facebook.

When it came to news programming, however, Facebook accounted for twice as much activity – suggesting that, while the social has a clear lead overall, people are more willing to turn to other services, such as Twitter, to discuss news stories than other TV content.
