Facebook is rolling out a section within Watch dedicated exclusively to news shows, as it looks to build on its pledge to offer news content from trustworthy and informative sources.
The first batch of news shows – which will be created for the sole purpose of appearing on Facebook – includes ‘On Location’ from ABC News, ‘Chasing Corruption’ from Advance Local, ‘Undivided ATTN:’ from ATTN:, ‘Anderson Cooper Full Circle’ from CNN, ‘Fox News Update’ from Fox News, ‘Mic Dispatch’ from Mic, and ‘Real America with Jorge Ramos’ from Univision.
The shows on offer will vary, with some offering daily briefings, others weekly deep dives, and some live breaking news coverage. They will debut on Watch later this summer, and Facebook will announce additional shows in the coming weeks.
“Watch is the destination on Facebook where people come together around video,” said Campbell Brown, head of global news partnerships at Facebook, in a blog post. “Weve seen that people enjoy coming to Watch to find timely, relevant content and to catch up with the publishers and creators they care about. We think that this is a great opportunity to test a viewing destination for high quality news content within Watch and are excited about the possibilities here with the broader ecosystem of news publishers.”
