Facebook has added a transportation feature to its Messenger app.
Initially partnering with Uber, the feature enables users to directly book a ride from their conversations by choosing the transportation option from the more menu.
Users can then pay through the app, and notify their friends that theyve booked a ride. Updates on the driver’s status, along with payment receipts, will be delivered in a private conversation with Uber.
To promote the feature, Uber is offering a free first ride for anyone who sets up a new Uber account through Messenger or links up an existing account.
The feature is initially rolling out in the US, but Facebook claims it will come to more countries, with a wider range of partners, in the near future.
