Facebook Paid £4,327 UK Corporation Tax in 2014

Facebook-HQ-Logo-IRL.pngFacebook paid just £4,327 in corporation tax in the UK during 2014, according to its Companies House filing for the year – less than the income tax paid by the average individual employee in the UK over the same period.

Facebooks UK division reported a loss of £28.5m pre-tax for the year – but this includes £35.4m in share bonuses to staff, equivalent to around £98,000 for each of its 362 staff. On a global basis, meanwhile, the company reported net profits of $2.9bn (£1.9bn) for the year.

Facebook is far from the first tech giant to attract controversy for its tax-paying practices in the UK and Europe. Fellow tech giants Google and Amazon are currently under investigation by the EU over their tax arrangements in European countries.
