With the Super Bowl just a few weeks away, Facebook has launched Sports Stadium, a dedicated hub for real-time sports content.
Sports Stadium gathers all Facebook content related to a game together in one place, including posts from both friends and professionals, live scores and stats, and info on how to watch the game on TV.
“Sports is a global interest that connects people around the world,” said Facebook product manager Steve Kafka. “This product makes connecting over sports more fun and engaging, and we will continue listening to feedback to make it even better.”
Facebook hasnt yet announced what opportunities Sports Stadium will offer to advertisers but, with events like the Super Bowl being a juggernaut in terms of ad spend, it seems unlikely it will miss out on this opporutnity.
Sports Stadium initially covers American football games, and is available on iOS in the US, but a rollout for other sports and platforms is promised in the coming weeks.
