Facebook is reportedly planning to launch its own mobile ad network that will enable it sell ads outside of its own mobile site and apps, targeted using the data of its 1bn-plus subscribers.

According to Re/code, the ad network will be revealed at Facebooks F8 developer conference in San Francisco at the end of the month.

This news shouldnt come as too much of a surprise. After Twitter bought MoPub last September, in order to launch its own third party network, Facebook confirmed to Mobile Marketing that it would be re-opening trials of its mobile ad exchange – which began in January 2014.

The Wall Street Journal reports that users wont be able to opt out from the ads – though whether this means seeing them, or having their data used in this way, is currently unclear.

The networks initial launch will bring a limited number of advertising partners on board, before rolling out fully in the coming months.
