Even if a company hasnt purchased ads on Facebook, the chances are it has a business page set up on the social network, probably one that looks very similar to most other businesses.
However, Facebook has announced that its business pages will be getting a long-awaited overhaul centred around enhancing the experience for mobile users and offering new features and design elements to businesses.
The revamp is the first since 2012, and will enable brands to add information about shopping and services to their pages, tabs that organise different information and, for small businesses, a Shopify-powered Buy Button.
The most noticeable change will be the addition of a large call-to-action button directly below the business cover image, which can be set up to trigger a call, Facebook message or email, depending on the brands needs.
The hope is, of course, that the changes will improve the browsing experience for mobile users and as a result lead to more conversions and sales for businesses who are active on Facebook.
“People are spending more time on their phones and tablets, which means businesses need to keep up with peoples expectation that they can find information and communicate with a business anytime, anywhere, on any device,” said Benji Shomair, director of product marketing for Pages at Facebook.
“The recent updates to Pages help businesses communicate easily with people through messaging and emphasise the information that helps them drive their goals, making Facebook the mobile solution for your business.”
