US cinema ticket-seller Fandango has reported best first quarter in the company’s almost 12-year history, with a 127 per cent surge in year-on-year ticket sales, a 58 per cent year-on-year increase in monthly visitors (totalling 33m), and its top quarterly mobile share (23 per cent) of total tickets sold.
“This quarter is a significant milestone for Fandango, and shows the incredible momentum behind the company right now,” says executive vice president and general manager, Rick Butler. “Our unparalleled reach, product innovations and ability to guarantee seats for blockbusters like The Hunger Games, are significant drivers of this success. We are excited to start off the year from such a strong position, and to be adding tremendous value to our exhibitor and studio partners.”
Fandango also increased its theatre network in the first quarter by 19 per cent, thanks to deals with AMC Theatres, Regency Theatres and other chains. In addition, Fandango recently signed a partnership deal with Yahoo, becoming the movie ticketing provider for all of the network’s sites.
