Picsel Technologies, which aims to drive the delivery and uptake of mobile content by providing a richer user experience, has appointed Graeme Ferguson as Managing Director of its Mobile Content and Advertising division. Ferguson, who left his former post as Head of Content at Vodafone in October 2006, will lead global efforts for the Glasgow-based firm.
Picsel is an innovative content solutions provider to the mobile market and employs 240 staff at its offices in the UK, Japan, China, Korea, Malaysia and the US. The company develops solutions that improve the mobile content experience for consumers, helping to drive new revenue streams for content owners, handset makers and operators. In his role as head of the Mobile Content and Advertising division, Ferguson will be charged with developing global partnerships with leading content owners wishing to extend their brands into the mobile market.

The Mobile Content and Advertising division will build upon Picsels successful licensing business, by securing a viable, sustainable and profitable position in the mobile content, mobile marketing and mobile advertising value chains.
Picsels technologies include ePAGE, a multimedia content engine that enables users to interact with every type of digital content, in all its original richness, on any kind of device. ePAGE is currently available in three applications – Picsel Browser, Picsel File Viewer and Picsel Messenger.
Picsels international investor base includes Softbank Europe Ventures, BancBoston Capital, a consortium of Japanese investors and the Malaysian Government. The companys technology is currently being licensed by many of the worlds leading mobile technology companies. Picsel won Grand Prize at the 2003 European Information Society Technology Awards.
