Mobile app user acquisition platform Fiksu has released the June results of its App Store Competitive Index, which measures the average aggregate daily download volume of the top 200 free iOS apps in the US, and Cost per Loyal User Index.
The App Store Competitive Index increased by 1.98 per cent to a total 4.6m daily downloads, up from 4.5m in May. Fiksu says this is the effect of an anticipated uptick in summer download activity – but it still isnt as high as the start of the year, where daily downloads reached a peak of 6.8m
The Fiksu Cost per Loyal User Index, meanwhile, increased by 14.3 per cent in June. The cost of acquiring a loyal user – defined as those who open an app three times or more – through proactive marketing reached $1.44 in June, up from $1.26 in May.
“While caution was the keyword for last month’s mobile marketing spends, renewed confidence appears to be June’s theme,” says Fiksu CEO Micah Adler. “We observed a shift as brands resumed use of UDID as one of several attribution options to maximize their mobile advertising reach. This, combined with quarter-end spending, drove up loyal user acquisition costs during the month.”
