Flight booking website Justtheflight.co.uk has announced the launch of what it claims is the worlds first global flight search and book facility for mobiles.
Justtheflight.co.uk/mobile is a web-based application, optimized for mobile devices, which allows people to search, book and pay for flights through their mobile phone. The application enables users to search for and book flights to and from most global locations with the majority of the worlds leading airlines.
The application also offers travel and airline news updated every few hours, as well as holiday and destination guides, plus travel features that are written so that they can be read on a mobile device. Initially Justtheflight.co.uk/mobile flight bookings will be in English and can be paid for by credit card. There are also plans to introduce a corporate version as well as multi-currency and multi-lingual options shortly.
The launch is an exciting one for justtheflight.co.uk and the travel industry, says Brian Kelly, Chief Executive of Online Regional Travel Group, the company behind the service. The use of the mobile Internet through Smartphone devices is exploding. Currently 20% of people have access to the Internet via the mobile phone, and this is set to grow. Mobile is the PC of the future; improved speed and falling costs for downloading data makes searching and booking flights a viable, quick and convenient option, breaking the tie with the office or home PC.
