Flurry Marks Its Fifth Anniversary

Flurry has released a report to mark its fifth anniversary, looking back over the past half-decade in apps.

Alongside the report, the company has announced that it will be making its Flurry Analytics platform available for the mobile web in the coming weeks, enabling users to combine insights on native apps and mobile-optimised websites.

According to the report, the average US consumer spends 2 hours and 38 minutes on mobile devices per day. 80 per cent of that time is spent using apps, as opposed to just 20 per cent spent browsing the mobile web.

Games are the largest single category, accounting for 30 per cent of all time spend – notably a larger portion than the entirety of the web. Facebook, is the second largest category in and of itself, accounts for 18 per cent, while other social networking apps make up an additional six per cent.

The report also reveals that the average number of apps launched each day by users has climbed, from 7.2 in 2010 to 7.9 in 2012.
