Make My Mobile.com has
launched a range of mobile phone skins aimed at football fans. The
skins providing another way for fans to show their
support for their club, and open up a new revenue stream for the club
itself, via a revenue-share agreement with the company. Made from high quality, adhesive vinyl, the skins are a novel
way to personalise a mobile device, and the company says the football
club range is just the beginning.
The
skin is applied to the phone itself; it is not a download or a screen
saver says Make My Mobile.com founder, David Goodman. This means that
when the phone is visible, the skin is visible too. So, imagine that a
fan has purchased a skin, with a favourite club colours and badge: its
like a small replica shirt. However, unlike a replica shirt, it is not
just worn on match day, its out there all the time, constantly, for
the whole world to see!
To choose a skin, customers log on to the Make My Mobile.com website
and choose from a variety of team strips, including home, away,
vintage, and other themes. At this stage, the customer must enter their
delivery address, opting to provide the team they support with their
email and postal addresses and various demographics that could be
captured and used to alert fans of other offers. The vinyl skin is then
sent out directly to the team supporter.
Skins cost 4.99 each, and
if the skin is not available for the customers handset available, they
can let the company know via the site and they can usually get it set
up for the customer within a couple of days.
The margins
football clubs can realise through Make My Mobile.coms phone skins are
excellent value, said Goodman. It will be pennies on the pound for a
fan to skin up a phone, making it an affordable addition to their
collection of team strips, scarves, and posters – a true must have
for every supporter.
