Jones, who has also served as advertising adviser to David Cameron, resigned from Havas last year and has launched his new venture, You & Mr Jones, with the idea of applying digital tools to brand-building.

According to The Guardian, the group will be headquartered in New York and has already made investments in news aggregator Mashable and visual marketing firm Pixlee.

The group has plans to acquire companies in a variety of industries, including programmatic ad buying, multichannel networks, social media marketing and user- and machine-generated content.

“Technology now enables every part of the brand-building process to be done better, faster and cheaper – from creating content, to producing it, to sharing it, to targeting and measuring,” said Jones. “And its also created a global creative department of more than 1bn people, all of whom can now create, produce and share.

“Were building a new technology group that aims to leverage all of this for brands.”
