Wireless World Forum is staging a
Consumer-Generated Content and Social Networking Forum at Le Meridien
Hotel, Piccadilly, on Monday, 16 July to discuss issues and
opportunities raised for the mobile platform by the recent boom in
online consumer generated content and social networking.
Representatives from Bebo, Yospace, Orange, Microsoft, Cyworld and
Vodafone will address questions such as: What role will mobile play in
the future of social networks and consumer generated content? And:
What revenue models will prove most successful among the youth market?
MySpace, Bebo, Facebook and YouTube are increasingly popular. Wioreless
World point out that YouTube users have spent the equivalent of 9,305
years watching submitted videos since the site launched in 2005. Each
month, MySpace attracts 107 million unique visitors, while Facebook
attracts 32 million and Bebo 13.7 million. The next challenge is to
transfer this success to the mobile platform.
Anuj Khanna, Head of Marketing at Tanla Mobile, says the mobile future
of social networks and consumer generated content lies in niche
markets.
Right now everybody goes to the same portal and there is a wide
variety of interests and age groups all interacting says Khanna. In
the coming two years, the demand will be for further personalisation.
In response to concerns about the security of mobile content, David
Springall, Co-founder and CTO of Yospace, explains that Internet
access is relatively anonymous, but mobile phones are much more
personal devices than PCs, and can be reliably identified by the
network. This provides a much better basis for age verification and
content control
Springall and Khanna will be present along with their industry peers at
the Forum to share insights on the mobile future of Consumer Generated
Content and Social Networking.
Tickets are still available for the event, priced at 895. For more information, email [email protected]
