Free Wi-fi for 3DS Users Thanks to The Cloud Deal

Nintendo UK has announced a deal with The Cloud offering Nintendo 3DS users free access to their 5,000 wi-fi access points across the UK.

Nintendo 3DS devices which have the 3DS browser installed will automatically connect to The Cloud’s network, which includes chains such as PizzaExpress, Pret A Manger and Eat, as well as pubs, leisure facilities, restaurants and mainline train stations.

While in ‘Sleep’ mode, the 3DS will automatically search for and connect to the internet via The Cloud’s access points, enabling users to access Nintendo’s online service, SpotPass, or browse the internet. SpotPass allows content such as free software, exclusive 2D & 3D video content and notifications to be downloaded automatically to the Nintendo 3DS, without any action on the user’s part.

“Nintendo 3DS continues to evolve and add new features all the time,” says Nintendo UK marketing director, Dawn Paine. “The Cloud partnership represents another exciting step that will continue to expand its appeal and encourage owners to take their Nintendo 3DS systems with them wherever they go, offering different and unique experiences everyday.”
