French Connection Adopts In-store Shopper Tracking Tech

French Connection is rolling out a wi-fi platform in its stores to track shopper visits and improve customer service.

The technology, created by Evolution Group, gives each shopper a unique code without the need to log-in so sensors can monitor behaviour and push SMS to opted-in customers in-store. This will enable shops to perform split testing on promotional displays.

The Retail Mesh platform also offers free wi-fi to all shoppers who enter the store, where opt-in messages can be displayed, along with a secure wi-fi connection for the businesses to support ePOS, pop-up outlets and use of mobile devices by staff. Each of the solutions can be adopted as separate modules if a business already has existing wi-fi infrastructure.

“There is huge potential for harnessing mobile technology to convert sales while consumers are physically in the right environment,” said Ritchie Jeune, director of Evolution, “at the right time and in a purchasing mindset, receptive to tailored marketing messages and promotions. This solution can help businesses tap into potentially millions in lost sales on the shop floor.”

French Connection is rolling out Retail Mesh in its Brighton store over the next three months, having already adopted tablets across its shops to show catalogues and check stock levels.
