Analyst Frost & Sullivan is to host an analyst briefing on the European mobile industry, on Thursday, 17 September, at 16.00 BST. The briefing will explore the impact of the global recession on the European mobile communications industry. It will also look at how the industry can react in the short term. Using the European Union as an example, the briefing will highlight the emerging role of government policies as a catalyst of growth and optimism. Finally, Frost & Sullivan will share some ideas regarding the evolution of the situation for the last quarter of 2009 and 2010.
Frost notes that almost a year after the start of the economic crisis, the European mobile industry still faces a period of uncertainty. Despite some positive signs, it says, European economies are not out of the woods yet and consumers confidence remains low. It notes also that continuous innovation, collaboration between market players, and various stimului from governments policies can help the European mobile industry to go through this moment of slow recovery.
In early 2009, Frost & Sullivan suggested that one possible reaction to the coming recession was to pursue creativity and innovation in order to offer attractive products and services, says Frost Analyst, Saverio Romeo. During the first quarter of 2009, the industry predictably focused on managing costs, but also looked increasingly at providing creative and innovative solutions to customers needs. This led to the establishment of numerous forms of partnerships as our analysis suggested at the beginning of the year.”
Frost believes that this approach to the crisis should be continued during the last quarter of 2009 and all of 2010. The analyst believes that strategic partnerships can lead to new ideas able to create valuable business opportunities.
