Fujitsu Uses Scalado SpeedTags for High-quality ISP

Fujitsu Microelectronics has signed a contract with Scalado to licence and integrate Scalado SpeedTags technology into a future high-quality mobile ISP (Image Signal Processor) Milbeaut. Scalados technology will be included in the ISP in order to help manage the larger files produced by the high-resolution image sensors, thereby significantly improving overall JPEG image handling performance. The ISP using the new technology will be used in mobile devices, such as cameraphones and PDAs, as well as in digital still cameras. Scalado products currently exist in more than 300 million mobile devices.
This is a very important deal which undoubtedly leads to superior performance and features, mainly in cameraphones, increasing Scalados mobile market penetration, says Fadi Abbas, Co- Founder and VP of Business Development and Partnerships at Scalado. (It) will also help (in) introducing Scalado to the digital still camera industry, where Fujitsu Microelectronics has a strong presence.
Implementation of SpeedTags into the camera chip will support the use of Scalados CAPS imaging suite, which provides enhanced functionality to cameraphones. As a result, Scalado says, users can expect increased performance and data handling capabilities for high resolution files that will dramatically improve the experience of viewing images on a mobile device.
