The Galaxy National Book Awards has launched an iPhone app in support of the competition. The app contains full details of the 48 fiction and non-fiction books shortlisted for the awards. Users can browse, buy and find out more about all the nominated books.
The app was commissioned by Agile Marketing, who organise the awards, and created by Midas Public Relations, specialists in publishing, the arts and lifestyle communications, who are handling the publicity for the awards.
The Galaxy National Book Awards app contains synopses and images of all the books nominated, author biographies and regular news updates. The shortlist contains books by writers including Stephen Fry, Tony Blair, Philippa Gregory, Jilly Cooper, Bill Bryson, Jamie Oliver and David Walliams, chosen by book experts for their popular appeal, critical acclaim and commercial success.
Users will also be able to browse videos, photos and insights from the award ceremony, which takes place on 10 November, and which will be broadcast on More4 on 13 November. Each winner of a category at the Galaxy National Book Awards will become a finalist with the chance of winning the Galaxy Book of the Year, for which the public become the judges. The public can vote for one of the eight finalists between 13 November and 13 December, when the winner will be announced.
