Shipments of the Samsung Galaxy S3 will exceed 10m during July, according to the OEMs head of mobile Shin Jong-kyun. The Galaxy launched on 29 May, meaning that the predicted milestone falls two months into the handsets lifespan – thats equivalent to 7,000 Galaxy S3s shifted every minute.
The handset is currently available from 300 carriers across the world, and is Samsungs fastest selling smartphone. Overall profit from Samsungs mobile division reached $3.6bn (£2.3bn) in Q1, 2012, accounting for 73 per cent of the companys total operating profit.
Shin also claimed that the companys Q2, 2012 results would be even better than the last – seemingly a retort to the 4 per cent drop in Samsungs share prices, and recent forecasts to the contrary from analysts including JP Morgan.
