Genaker Unveils Push-to-talk Solution

Genaker, which supplies mobile business productivity solutions, has unveiled a Push-to-talk over Cellular (PoC) client, based on the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) standard for iPhone and BlackBerry handsets.
The PTT client offers real-time group communications for BlackBerry and iPhone devices and is available to run over any standard mobile IP network. Once installed on the device, users are able access a contact list and are able to talk to any user or group by simply pushing a button.
The proprietary nature of previous PTT clients required users to have handsets deployed on the same carrier network. The Genaker solution, works with all standard PoC network solutions, as well as most commercial PoC clients. This means that users can have group communications with people from different networks or even different countries.
Industries that coordinate teams in the field, such as healthcare, construction, logistics and hospitality, will benefit from instant communication, improved productivity and reduce costs, says Genaker.
PTT solutions based on open standards are spreading, at a slow but certain pace, says
Genaker Chief Operating Officer, Jordi Guerrero. Our implementation, which is entirely IP-based, affords UK customers an opportunity to benefit from the appeal of push-to-talk services.”
