Independent mobile app store GetJar has been selected as one of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Association TiE50 companies. GetJar has over 450 million downloads to date, and provides more than 45,000 mobile applications across all major handsets and platforms to consumers in more than 200 countries. TiE is a global organization dedicated to fostering entrepreneurs across its international network sponsored by top venture capital firms and Fortune 500 corporations.
The TiE50 is a list of the hottest and most promising start-up companies across five segments, namely, Internet Infrastructure, Wireless, Cleantech, Software, and Consumer Web. The competition was tough this year with nearly 1,200 highly qualified companies nominated. After gruelling rounds of judging and public voting, 10 companies from each the five focus segments were selected as winners. GetJar was judged to be an exceptional emerging start up in the Wireless segment.
We are very honoured to be selected into TiEs list of the most promising start-ups in Wireless, says GetJar CEO, Ilja Laurs. As the mobile app ecosystem has flourished, our service has come a long way, and were proud to be the worlds largest, independent and only true cross-platform app store.
