Social networking software developer envIO networks has released new user data based on activity from its Chorus iPhone Application. The Chorus January report focuses on the top10 most recommended apps within the Chorus community, as well as the top 10 free and paid apps, based on download attempts.
Since its launch in 2009, more than 100,000 users have used Chorus to keep track of what apps their friends are recommending and downloading. The community is based on shared interests and aiding the app discovery process, by making it easy for users to connect with friends, see their activities, and provide recommendations. Chorus is currently available on iPhone and iPod touch, and has recently launched internationally in 90 additional countries around the world.
Chorus users are active and engaged, with over a third of the daily users generating activity rating, reviewing and commenting on friends activities. Chorus users are also incredibly social, with the average user inviting 78 friends to try out the app.
Based on the latest data, the most popular free and paid apps for January were Background Check and Lets Golf, which took over from IMDb and DropZap, respectively. Another interesting trend witnessed in the report is that 28 of the 30 apps that made it to the list were making their debut, which emphasizes the popularity of new apps among discerning Chorus users.

Weve received great feedback from publishers and developers who are looking for helpful tools to help them track the hottest apps that users are downloading, says Vladimir Edelman, VP of Marketing and Business Development for envIO networks. Users of the app find it very helpful as well, and weve seen a big increase in user activity. The average user now recommends the app to nearly 80 of their friends and downloads an average of three apps a month, which shows the tremendous power of growth through viral and social recommendations.
envIO is developing Chorus for other leading Smartphone platforms, and is planning to announce rollouts in several new languages in the coming months.
