Google Adds Click-to-Call Tracking to AdWords Express

Google has brought its call reporting feature to AdWords Express, the simplified version of AdWords aimed at SMEs.
US businesses signed up for call reporting will have the phone numbers in their mobile, tablet and desktop ads automatically replaced a toll-free Google forwarding number, which then enables AdWords to register that the call was made.
The functionality has been available on full-fat AdWords customers for two years, but is a welcome addition – after all, voice calls being smartphones home turf, Google mobile ads are often the perfect place to take advantage of click-to-call functionality. It is possible, however, that consumers could be put off by ringing a freephone number rather than a local area code.
